Watch Unicorns! Rare Purple Patek World Time & Rolex Daytona GREEN dial ??

Today we feature 3 interesting posts from instagram that showcase watches and trends that others will be talking about in the coming weeks.

BEHOLD! The Colonel gives you THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF WATCH COLLECTING! The Colonel explains his philosophy of watch collecting and the 10 Rules you need to follow to build a great collection and not get ripped-off, or fall victim to hype. Follow along by examples and case studies in The Colonel’s collection.

Patek Philipp - World Time Ref.5330G-010 Japan Edition - Limited edition of 300

Value: $85,000+

Is this Japan-market edition the best iteration of the World time? Note the date feature, just like the recent Watches and Wonders release. This purple dial features beautiful guilloche, and far SUPERIOR to the recent release from Patek with pale denim color dial and “checkerboard/carbon fiber pattern”.

Is it REAL?

Vintage Rolex dealer @rolexpassionreport is showing a never seen before Daytona with green stella dial. Appears to be circa 1970’s… Lots of questions about this unicorn.

YES, NORMAL size watch cases are back!

As The Colonel has been telling you for the past 4 years - NORMAL SIZE watches are the way to go! The trend back to CLASSICAL SIZE 34-36mm cases (and even 31MM) is gaining traction. Here we see legendary watch collector John Goldberger @goldberger with a hipster tomato can - both with classical shaped watches. If this tomato can with random tattoos and baseball cap (indoors!) grasps this concept - surely the rest of the crayon eaters and window lickers will follow over the next 12 months.
