Sylvester Stallone Watch Flipper? Is Rolex Daytona White Gold/Blue dial a BUY?

Sylvester Stallone: “Backpack Dealer”?

Is Sylvester Stallone becoming a “backpack dealer”? Stallone is auctioning off some of his watches, including a new AP Royal Oak Tourbillon, Rolex Day Date 40 and a Patek Philippe Grand Master Chime (sealed in plastic!) expected to sell for $3 million+.

The real question is why would Stallone buy a million dollar Patek minute repeater (application piece) - and never unwrap it to hear the chimes? Is Stallone now blacklisted by Patek? This brings to mind the case of casino mogul Steve Wynn who was blacklisted by Ferrari, and lost his dealer franchise for flipping a rare model.

Timeless Classic: White Gold & Blue Dial

The combination of white gold and a blue sunburst dial is unbeatable, and a timeless classic. Today we’re looking at two “sports” watches from the collection of @par_b_2012 with this spec. In particular, this Rolex Daytona 116509 seems like a good value at $38,000 relative to more hyped current models. We believe the pre-ceramic models will stand the test of time, and out-perform the ugly black ceramic editions.

Rolex Daytona White Gold Ref# 116509

Value: $38,000+

Patek Philippe Nautilus Perpetual Calendar Ref# 5740-1G
Value: $200,000+

The 5740 is the most beautiful, and useful watches in the Nautilus lineup, but is overlooked by most. It is also a compelling value compare to other Nautilus complications in gold. List price is about $152,000, and price in the secondary market have been drifting lower. Prices are likely to bottom out in the $160,000 range over the next 12 months.
