The New York Watch auctions start next week. Aside from the “usual suspects” of modern AP, Rolex, Patek hype watches, there are a fresh-to-the-market vintage rarities.
Aside from the “heavy hitters”, there are plenty of great watches in the $20-30K range for the serious enthusiast, which offer upside appreciation potential.
We will be previewing these auctions in today and tomorrows livestreams. Meanwhile, take a look at a few of the highlight images below…

Philipps lot 8: Patek Philippe Ref #3700. In minty “new old stock” condition, circa 1984. Est:$60,000 - 120,000. Almost unheard of to find the Patek Jumbo in this mint condition. Similar two-tone 3700’s are selling for $100K+ in “good” condition. This lot will attract serious collectors and would be a bargain at $120K.

Phillips Lot 105: Rolex Ref #6102, Circa 1953 with enamel dial. Est: $50,000 - 100,000. This is a rare enamel is a stunning color, and in great condition. Collectors are gravitating towards gold Datejusts, with prices soaring for rare examples. We expect this one could hammer for $200K+.

Christie’s Lot 59 - Rolex Ref #6062 “Stelline” Circa 1953. Est: $500,000-$1,000,000. The Stelline is the true bluechip for Rolex collectors. As always, condition brings premium prices. Typically this watch fetches $250K in “average” unrestored vintage condition. In our opinion, the patina adds to the charm of these watches and is not worth paying the $300,000-500,000 premium for better condition. The patina IS the feature!
