Phillip's Hong Kong Auction Results: Serious BARGAINS!
Phillips Hong Kong 9/27 auction was a "Tale of Two Cities". It was the Best of Times for TRUE enthusiasts who are collecting non-hype watches especially dress watches - with prices back to pre-covid levels. It was The Worst of Times for collectors seeking "mainstream" pieces like Patek Nautilus and Rolex steel sports watches - with prices still clinging to the afterglow of the bubble market. JOIN OUR LIVESTREAM 8:00PM EST today as we are joined by Hong Kong Super Collector "Bruce Lee" to get his "boots on the ground" opinion on the latest trends.

Lot 8114 - This Patek Philippe ref 3848 Ellipse would have been considered a “dog” 6 months ago. Today it’s prices ar soaring. This 1989 example, has everything WRONG: The dial is gold instead of the classic blue sunburst, it comes on the basic buckle, instead of the Ellipse version, and the 80’s lizard strap instead of crocodile. YET - it sold for $13,000 well above the $5,100-$10,300 estimate. You can find similar examples for about $9,500 - with a proper Ellipse buckle.
