Monaco Legends Watch Auction - Vintage Rarities - and STEALS !
Monaco Legends latest watch auction delivered some shocking bargains for collectors with budgets under $10K. Monaco Legends has a reputation for getting record prices for rare watches. Even the usual Rolex, Patek fare gets very strong prices at Monaco. It's almost IMPOSSIBLE to find bargains in MOnaco. Last weeks auction was different. We saw subdued prices and even quite a few STEALS. Especially under $10,000. This latest auction is proof the watch market is NOT DEAD! It's just reverting back to NORMALITY! Yes, we expect to STEAL watches at auctions - and we believe the next 6 months could be a GENERATIONAL OPPORTUNITY to snap up bargains in vintage niches. Below are just two examples of STEALS in watches that we believe have good upside potential.
LOT 122 - This 80’s Audemars Piguet in white gold with diamond dial and beautiful woven design integrated bracelet sold for just $7,000! Epitomizing the current “geezer watch” trend, this has some real upside. The estimate was 5,000-10,000euro. The buyer got a STEAL on what should be a $15,000 watch.
Lot 249 - This Vacheron Constantin ref 6782 “Turnograph” is a blatant RIPOFF of our favorite Rolex design - the Thunderbird/Turnograph. In solid 18k yellow gold, this watch has the rotating bezel, cyclops date - and is even waterproof. The dial design is PURE ROLEX too. Estimated at 5,000-10,000 euro this sold for 6.500 euro (with premium). This watch has clearly been worn as you can see on the bezel, but it does come with the original Vacheron buckle. This Rolex Ripoff is a interesting piece of horological history - and a great value. These could easily be selling for $15,000 in next few years.
